The 55-year-old man who was thrown from a Consumers Energy truck that went into a ditch along U.S. 10 Thursday suffered serious injuries. Midland Police report the accident occurred at 11:45 a.m. on the highway at North Stark Road when the trailer the truck was pulling began sliding, causing the load to shift. The trailer then tipped on its side, and the truck and trailer slid off the road. They overturned at least one time before coming to rest on the wheels. The driver, William Dale Vallen of Sumner, was ejected. He suffered broken bones and internal injuries. He was taken to the MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland for treatment, and was in fair condition Tuesday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
