City of Midland beginning road surface treatment program today


The City of Midland’s annual surface treatment program is beginning today. During work, affected streets will be reduced to one lane of traffic intermittently. The surface treatment program involves applying a thin asphalt overlay to the roadway. This process extends the life of streets at a much lower cost than street reconstruction. The city conducts treatment operations on approximately six miles of roadway in Midland each year. This year, Waldo Avenue will receive a two-part application, the first taking place this week and the second — a micro-surfacing application — beginning the week of August 29.
