Despite his increasing power and influence in Washington, U.S. Rep. Dave Camp still is known as “Dave” to many here in his hometown. Camp, R-Midland, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, is touring Michigan’s 4th District this week. He visited with businesses and community organizations in Grand Traverse and Mecosta counties and was in Midland on Thursday to update constituents and to discuss tax reform and job creation. Camp was named this month as one of 12 members of a congressional “super committee” charged with reducing up to $1.5 trillion of the nation’s debt by Thanksgiving.
