Center City Authority receives challenge grant

The Center City Authority shopping area recently received a challenge grant from the Midland Area Community Foundation (MACF) for $13,000 and the Gerstacker Foundation for $24,000 to construct and install two gateway signs and 10 permanent, banner-style identity signs throughout the Center City shopping district.

The Center City district begins just north of the Circle and ends at Patrick and S. Saginaw Road. The new signs will mark the northern and southern limits of the corridor and note the location of the district along Saginaw Road.

In order to claim the grants, business and property owners must raise $12,000 in matching funds.  Anyone wishing to donate to this effort may send contributions to the MACF with a note to direct these funds to the Center City sign project.  For information on the grant challenge, contact David Ginis, Center City Authority Chair at 835-6534 or Joe Valent at the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce, 839-9901.
