The Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art will host a free, public opening reception of its fall exhibitions at 7 pm.

Explore the craftsmanship of taxidermy through the finest specimens from both collectors and the most talented taxidermists in Michigan. Native Michigan specimens and exotic specimens from countries and habitats around the world such as South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and other locations will be on view. AUDUBON: The M. Bernard Loates Edition from the Collection of Ferris State University
Twenty-five breathtaking large-scale prints pulled from original Audubon plates and inked in color by Canadian artist M. Bernard Loates.

THE NATURE OF ART: An Invitational Exhibition
This exhibition brings together approximately 10 artists from diverse backgrounds working in a broad range of media, unified in their thematic emphasis that is poetically inspired by animals and the universal beauty of nature.

HUCHTHAUSEN: A Retrospective in Contemporary Glass
Glass artist David Huchthausen’s work over the past 35 years has played a vital role in the elevation of glass into a fine art form. Deliberately enigmatic and mysterious, his work strives to tantalize and challenge the viewer. Presented in collaboration with Habatat Galleries of Royal Oak, MI, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Studio Glass movement. Sponsored by Merrill Lynch.

STUDIO GLASS: The 50th Year Celebration, from The University of Michigan, Dearborn
Presented in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Studio Glass movement, which emphasized the artist as designer and maker, this exhibition is an essential who’s who of leading contemporary glass artists.
