Dave Camp and Debbie Stabenow said Friday that the Army Corps of Engineers doesn’t plan to finish a plan for ensuring that voracious Asian carp don’t reach the Great Lakes by early 2014 despite a federal mandate ordering it to do so.

The Corps released a report Friday saying it expects to “evaluate a range of options” for keeping Asian carp out of Lake Michigan by December of next year but that “Initiation of any action beyond the study is contingent upon a decision by the Secretary of the Army that a project is justified.”
U.S. Rep. Dave Camp, who got word of the report before it was released, reacted harshly to the news, saying the Corps’ refusal to complete a plan by early 2014 and instead propose a range of options was “unacceptable.”
