Midland County and City are requesting that you renew an existing 1 Mil property tax millage that is earmarked for County and City Roads.  In a separate ballot initiative, the City and County are requesting an additional 1 Mil tax millage.

They say that the current 3.5 million dollars per year is not enough to keep our roads from deteriorating.  August 7th is the date.  Mark your calendar and get involved.

Justice! No New Trial for Rachel Moore


Murder trial of Rachel Moore
A Sanford woman convicted of shooting her ex-lover in a Midland Burger King parking lot is not going to get a new trial, despite a juror’s out-of-court experiment. A jury in April convicted Moore, 40, of first-degree murder in the slaying of the 67-year-old Brian L. Reichow. The evening of July 18, 2011, Moore shot Reichow four times as he sat in his truck in the Burger King lot at 6730 Eastman Ave. Though Moore fled the scene and spent the night with the father of one of her two sons, police arrested her within 24 hours. Moore testified she shot Reichow in self-defense after he pulled a gun from the glove box of his Ford F350 pickup truck. She said she wrestled the firearm from him then started shooting.
