Tennis: Dow wins Holly Invitational

The Dow High chargers went a perfect 27 for 27 today winning the Holly Invitational over UD Jesuit, Almont, Okemos, Holly, Grand Blanc, Rochester Adams, and Detroit Catholic Central.  This makes Dow's record a 4 out of 4 tournament wins and a record of 16-0 on the year.

[body]Dow next plays the SVL tournament on Thursday followed by the "Power Quad" on Saturday at the MCTC featuring Ann Arbor Huron, Detroit Country Day, and Port Huron Northern. "What can you say about a team like this?" asked coach Terry Schwartzkopf. "Austin Woody has still never lost a singles match in high school."

Drunk driver takes fast lane to prison

William Lynch has been sentenced to between 23 months and 5 years in prison for a police pursuit that went from Sanford to Midland in March. The pursuit hit speeds of 100 mph and Lynch was found to be intoxicated while driving a car that he didn’t have permission to operate. Lynch also got 93 days for drunken driving.

Midland Daily News editor gets 90 days in jail

Former MDN editor Ian Gray has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for a charge of attempted felonious assault. Gray entered a plea for the charge, which was related to him disciplining a 13 year old girl by placing a hand on his holstered gun.

Gray was arrested in March for sexual conduct involving a minor, which occurred from 2009 to 2011.
