Stehouwer COO; Bateman president of Northwood U

Kristin Stehouwer has been named chief operating officer at Northwood University, in addition to maintaining her role as executive vice president and chief academic officer, and William Bateman has been named president of the Michigan campus.

Milton Hall had been arguing with officers in a parking lot next to a shuttered Chinese restaurant when he was shot, in full view of passing motorists and while he was holding some sort of knife.

Update: Names released in head-on crash

24-year-old Aimee Nichole Deneau of Coleman was headed east in the westbound lanes of Business U.S. 10, also called M-20, when the 2001 Ford Mustang she was driving struck a 2000 Ford Mustang head-on at 2:33 a.m. near Waldo Avenue.

Deneau, along with the driver of the 2000 Mustang, Ronald Douglas Roenicke, 52, Midland, as well as the driver of the Pontiac and his passenger, Paul John Schuhmacher, 22, Kawkawlin, and Jeffery James Raymaker, 21, Bay City, were hurt. All were taken to the MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. A hospital spokeswoman reported this morning that all have been released.
