MCFT to offer charter bus trip to ArtPrize

MIDLAND, MI – Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art is offering DESTINATION: ArtPrize, charter bus service to view the ArtPrize competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Departure is from the Midland Center for the Arts parking lot on Monday, September 24, at 8 a.m. Cost for the day-long trip is $45; $35 for A.B. Dow Museum members.

Participants are responsible for providing or purchasing their own meals. Comfortable walking shoes are a must as is an umbrella in case of rain. Experience Grand Rapids' ArtPrize firsthand during this day-long charter bus trip, and help determine the winners when you cast your vote in this open competition featuring the world's largest cash prize for art. This year's competition features over 1,500 artists from 45 states and 56 countries, displaying in venues large and small, indoor and outdoor.

Gallery viewing in Grand Rapids is on your own or in small groups. Groups will have the opportunity to meet periodically throughout the day for a midday meal, special viewings and transport to other locations (itinerary to be determined). Art is exhibited in an assortment of venues: large to small, indoor and outdoor.

Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize is an open competition featuring the world’s largest cash prize for art: $449,000 total, with $250,000 going to the first-place winner. Winners are determined by a vote from visitors. This year’s competition runs from September 19 through October 7. A number of Great Lakes Bay Region artists are participating. Artists associated with Midland Center for the Arts are:
