4,200 deer dead from disease; 0 in Midland

The DNR has announced that 4,200 deer have been reported dead in 24 Michigan counties from EHS (epizootic hemorrhagic disease), a virus transmitted by a type of biting fly. Currently, no deer deaths have been linked to the disease in Midland county. The disease causes deer to suffer extensive internal bleeding, loss of appetite, fear of humans, and eventually unconsciousness.
