9 Midland houses eligible for dioxin cleanup; Dow Chemical to test 50 more homes
Nine Midland properties have dioxin contamination levels higher than 250 parts per trillion after one round of Dow Chemical Co.'s testing. Dow crews sampled 97 properties this summer of the 106 homeowners they offered it to. The Midland-based chemical company and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in February announced its plan to sample dioxin levels at about 1,300 homes. Dow will offer remediation to homeowners whose property has soil levels higher than 250 parts per trillion.
