Consumers Energy says power has returned to 5,500 residents in Midland, Gladwin counties

Power has returned to nearly all residents in Midland and Gladwin counties following a substation transformer failure Wednesday. The transformer failure occurred around 8 p.m. Wednesday and left 5,500 residents in the two counties without power. “Because we needed to make repairs, we brought in a mobile substation,” spokeswoman Mary Kulis said. As of 2 p.m. Thursday, Kulis said the mobile substation was “up and energized.”
