West Michigan Whitecaps slug three home runs in comeback win

The West Michigan Whitecaps picked a good time to take their first lead of the night on Sunday, spending the first nine innings clawing their way back from an early deficit before sneaking out a 10-inning, 8-5 win over the Great Lakes Loons at Dow Diamond. After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, West Michigan (6-4, 42-38) slugged three home runs and overcame three errors on their way to a comeback win in the opener of the three-game series against Great Lakes (4-6, 38-42). The offense was led by the first and ninth hitters. Leadoff man Luis Castillo went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI, while Brandon Loy reached base in four of his five plate appearances and scored three runs at the bottom of the lineup.
