West Michigan Whitecaps avoid no-hitter, lose 1-0

The West Michigan Whitecaps were four outs away from being on the wrong side of history Monday night, breaking up what was nearly the first no-hitter in Great Lakes Loons’ franchise history before ultimately losing, 1-0, at Dow Diamond. West Michigan (6-5, 42-39) finished with just two hits – both singles – as Raydel Sanchez out-dueled Wilsen Palacios to deliver Great Lakes (5-6, 39-42) the narrow victory.
Palacios came into the game looking to become the Midwest League’s first 10-game winner, but Sanchez quickly stole the show.
