Dow CEO Andrew Liveris: Economic crisis in EU is cause of poor earnings report

Top officials from Dow Chemical Co. addressed concerns about the company's sluggish second quarter earnings report this morning in a conference call with investors, placing much of the blame on deteriorating economic conditions in Europe. Dow Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Andrew N. Liveris said the economic decline in the eurozone led to low consumer confidence in Europe, which makes up about a third of the Midland-based chemical giant's business.
